Rich Watkins – Bari
Rich first joined the Eugene Chapter in 1963 right out of high school. His first quartet was put together for the purpose of singing in the Forest Grove ballad Contest in March of 1965. At the end of that year he joined the Army for 3 years. He eventually came back to the chorus in March of 1981. He sang tenor those first few years. He switched to baritone and has sung with 4 quartets. In 1999 Rich moved to Medford with company he worked for. He joined the Medford Chapter and sang with Rogue Power Company quartet for a few years. He moved back to Eugene in 2009 and is now singing with his new quartet Re-Treads.
Roy Richardson – Tenor
Roy sang in the choir in High School, but it was SATB, not barbershop. After graduating in 1981, he joined the Navy. He left the navy in 1990 and returned to school to become an engineer. It wasn’t until his engineering career brought him to Eugene that Roy discovered barbershop. He joined the 2009 Christmas Chorus and never left. He hadn’t done any organized singing since High School. Roy sang bass with the chorus, as well as the quartet “Beryllium Four”. Seeing a need, Roy thought he’d give his falsetto a try, and sing tenor. He now sings tenor with the Re-Treads, as well as with the chorus.
Dale LaFon – Lead
Dale LaFon is the lead in the Re-Treads. He has been in music for most of his life, directing, singing, or playing the trumpet. He is also a baritone in the chorus. He has been in Barbershop about 8 years. Dale is also one of the assistant directors of the Cascade Chorus.
Vic Fitzpatrick – Bass
Vic was first exposed to barbershop singing as a senior in high school. The only song he remembers signing was “I Want A Girl, Just Like The Girl That Married Dear Old Dad”. He joined the Cascade Chorus in 1982 and his first performance was on the International stage with the chorus in Seattle (1983) and St Louis (1984). He took a leave of absence in 1987 and, after too any years, came back to sing again in 2007.
